Eligibility Criteria

To apply for a Student visa in the UK, you must meet certain criteria:

  1. Course Offer: You must have received an offer to study from a licensed student sponsor institution in the UK.
  2. Financial Requirements: You need to demonstrate that you have enough funds to support yourself and cover your course fees. The amount required may vary depending on your circumstances. It’s essential to provide certified bank statements showing the total tuition fee and living expenses. The money must be held in the parent’s or student’s personal account for a minimum period of 28 days prior to applying for the visa. Investment account statements may be allowed after assessment.
  3. Language Proficiency: Proficiency in English is essential. You should be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.
  4. Parental Consent: If you’re aged 16 or 17, you’ll need consent from your parents to apply for the visa.
  5. Additional Requirements from the Checklist:
    • Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies (CAS) issued by the University.
    • Official Bank Letter confirming account details.
    • Original and copy of student’s Birth certificate.
    • Parent’s consent letter and copies of parent’s ID / Passports.
    • Originals and copies of academic results / certificates / transcripts as noted on the CAS.
    • Tuberculosis (TB) Medical certificate from an IOM Centre. at UN Crescent, Gigiri, Gate 78 (Pay via Mpesa Ksh.16,000 & carry original passport accompanied with address to the UK based university)
    • Online Visa form completed online.
    • Original Passport and copies of bio-data page.
    • Payments made online for visa fees and National Health Surcharge (NHS), along with other payments like TLS Fee payable at the Visa Application Centre.

Application Process

The application timeline varies based on your location:

  • Applying from Outside the UK: Apply up to 6 months before your course start date.
  • Applying from Inside the UK: Apply 3 months before your course begins. Decisions are usually made within 3 weeks to 8 weeks.

Duration of Stay

The duration of your stay depends on the level of your course, ranging from up to 2 years for courses below degree level to up to 5 years for degree-level courses.

Arrival in the UK

Arrival is allowed before your course starts, depending on its duration.

Fees and Healthcare Surcharge

The costs associated with the Student visa include visa application fees, National Health Surcharge (NHS), and other payments.

Payments made online via the students or parents’ credit or debit card are:

  • VISA Fee = 520USD
  • National Health Surcharge (NHS);1 year = 1,100 USD
  • TLS Fee Ksh.4,000/= payable at the Visa Application Centre at the appointment date, via credit/debit
    card
